Netflix’s Summer 2021 Preview Video Includes First-Look Footage from R.L. Stine’s ‘Fear Street’ Trilogy

Netflix is promising brand new original movies every single week for the whole summer, and this morning they’ve released a preview video spotlighting some of those upcoming movies. Included in the video are Zack Snyder‘s zombie movie Army of the Dead and the adaptation(s) of R.L. Stine‘s Fear Street books, featuring footage from both upcoming projects.

There are actually three Fear Street movies in total, directed by Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon), and they’re all being released by Netflix this summer. The cast includes Gillian JacobsSadie SinkKiana Madeira, Olivia Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr., Ashley Zukerman, Emily Rudd, McCabe Slye, Fred Hechinger, Julia Rehwald, Darrell Britt-Gibson and Jeremy Ford.

In the Fear Street trilogy…

Movie 1: In 1994, in the aftermath of a brutal tragedy in Shadyside, Ohio, a group of teens discover that a series of horrifying events that have plagued their town over many years might not be random, and that they may be the next victims.

Movie 2: In 1978, Camp Nightwing is divided by the campers and counselors who hail from the of prosperous town of Sunnyvale and the campers and maintenance staffers from the downtrodden town of Shadyside, but when horrors from their towns shared history come alive, they must band together to solve a terrifying mystery before it’s too late.

Movie 3: In 1666, a colonial town is gripped by a hysterical witch-hunt that has deadly consequences for centuries to come, and it’s up to teenagers in 1994 to try and finally put an end to their town’s curse, before it’s too late.

In 1989, three years before Goosebumps came onto the scene and made him a household name, R.L. Stine launched the lesser-known series of books, Fear Street. Taking place in the fictional city of Shadyside, Ohio, the teen-oriented Fear Street books pit teenagers up against adversaries both human and paranormal, and a total of 52 stories comprised the original line.
