‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots’ Live-Action Movie in the Works With Vin Diesel Attached to Star

The classic game Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots is the latest to get a feature film adaptation, with Deadline reporting today that Vin Diesel is on board to both produce and star in the movie.

The two-player beat ’em up game was designed by Marvin Glass and Associates and originally released by Louis Marx and Company in 1964. It’s currently produced by Mattel, staying true to the original version of the game wherein a red robot and a blue robot are tasked with fighting inside a boxing ring; whoever can knock their opponent’s head off is the winner.

The live-action film is headed our way from Universal and Mattel Films.

Deadline details, “Rampage and The Commuter scribe Ryan Engle wrote the screenplay which follows a father and son who form an unlikely bond with an advanced war machine.”

“To take the classic Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em game, with Mattel as my partner, and align it with the kind of world building, franchise making success we have had with Universal, is truly exciting,” Vin Diesel said in a statement shared by Deadline this afternoon.

Diesel and Samantha Vincent are producing via One Race Films.
