‘The Boy Behind the Door’: Shudder to Release “Intense, Boundary-Pushing Thriller”

One major highlight from last fall’s jam-packed festivals is Justin Powell and David Charbonier‘s thrilling indie horror The Boy Behind the Door, which Meagan Navarro raved about out of its AFI FEST premiere.

Described by Meagan as “harrowingly dark,” she also calls The Boy Behind the Door “an unrelentingly intense, boundary-pushing thriller.”

Now, Shudder is set to bring the gripping, powerful tale of survival and friendship in the face of evil home on July 29th, Bloody Disgusting learned.

In the film, “A night of unimaginable terror awaits twelve-year-old, Bobby, and his best friend, Kevin, when they are abducted on their way home from school.

“Managing to escape his confines, Bobby navigates the dark halls, praying his presence goes unnoticed as he avoids his captor at every turn. Even worse is the arrival of another deranged stranger, whose mysterious arrangement with the kidnapper may spell certain doom for Kevin.

“With no means of calling for help and miles of dark country in every direction, Bobby embarks on a rescue mission, determined to get himself and Kevin out alive… or die trying.

Here’s a previously-shared exclusive clip from The Boy Behind the Door in which Bobby (Lonnie Chavis) finds his friend locked behind a door and calls the police for help. Warning: it’s gross.
