Netherlands-based Blue Box Game Studios has announced a new first-person survival shooter in Abandoned, which will be headed to the PlayStation 5 in Q4 2021. According to PlayStation Blog, the game is “set in a highly detailed open world environment and favors a realistic approach to survival.”
The story for Abandoned focuses on Jason Longfield, who wakes up in a strange forest. Unable to remember just how he got there, Jason soon finds out that he was kidnapped and brought there for rather sinister purposes. As Jason, you must now fight for survival and escape.
According to the devs, Abandoned will “deliver a uniquely personal gameplay experience”, with everything having an effect on Jason. Sprinting, for example, will leave you out of breath, causing your accuracy in shooting to temporarily suffer.
Speaking of shooting, Blue Box states that in keeping with the idea of immersion and realism, the shooting mechanics will be purposely slow in order that the player must think tactically before resorting to their guns.
Reportedly, a full gameplay video will be available soon for Abandoned.
