Watch ‘Jurassic World: The Ride’s’ Fresh, Dinosaur-Sized Finale at Universal Studios Hollywood! [Video]

Universal Studios Hollywood has been taking theme park guests to Jurassic Park since 1996. A few years ago, they reskinned the attraction in order to tie it into their new Jurassic World trilogy.

Even though the experience was technically the same, Jurassic World: The Ride featured a whole bunch of new tech and freshened up all of the animatronics. The assumption was that the transformation was complete…

Jurassic World: The Ride has reopened with a surprise: a brand new finale!

The original would take guests on a boat tour that would end with a face-to-face confrontation with the franchise’s iconic T-Rex. The newly updated version would include Jurassic World‘s big bad, the terrifying Indominus Rex, which would peek out of a bush and roar alongside the T-Rex. It was cool, but didn’t add all that much other than tying it directly to the new films (it was always curious that they didn’t replace the T-Rex head with that of an enormous Indominus Rex).

In the fresh upgrade, the Indominus Rex now has a full animatronic body and roars directly over the guests’ heads before snapping at the original T-Rex head. It’s a minor change that has a massive impact, making the Indominus Rex more than just a cheap addition and instead integrating the dino directly into the ride’s actual story.

There are a handful of other upgrades including characters, signage, and props, all of which are detailed here.

Here’s a 4K ride-through video that reveals the brand new finale…
