While most likely know him from the Oscar-winning Promising Young Woman, Chris Lowell‘s breakthrough role came in Netflix’s canceled-way-too-soon series “GLOW” in which he played a hilarious-yet-likable rich kid who funds an independent women’s wrestling show.
Next up for Lowell is the hotly anticipated adaptation of Grady Hendrix‘s novel My Best Friend’s Exorcism, where he will star alongside Eighth Grade‘s Elsie Fisher and Amiah Miller, reports THR.
“Exorcism centers on Abby and Gretchen, two best friends and sophomores in high school. Their friendship is tested when Abby begins to suspect that her friend may be possessed by a demonic force.”
Lowell is playing a muscly meathead who along with his brother performs a “Faith and Fitness” at the teens’ parochial school,” explains the site. He sees that Gretchen is possessed and in need of an exorcism.
Cathy Ang and Rachel Ogechi Kanu also star.
Damon Thomas, known for his work on “Killing Eve” and “Penny Dreadful”, is directing from a script by Jenna Lamia.
Freaky director Christopher Landon produces.
Currently in production in Atlanta, the film is being made by Amazon Studios.
