It’s the first we’re hearing about the project but this week’s MPA listings include an interesting title that caught our attention. Night of the Animated Dead is on the way from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, we’ve learned this morning, and it has received an “R” rating.
The mysterious film is rated “R” for…
“Bloody/gruesome zombie violence.”
What is Night of the Animated Dead, you ask? And does it have anything to do with George A. Romero’s seminal zombie classic, either officially or unofficially? It’s no secret that Romero’s movie quickly fell into the public domain, thereby allowing anyone to do whatever they want to do with the property, so it’s entirely possible this is some kind of animated adaptation.
Then again, it could be a totally unrelated zombie movie that is merely inspired by Romero’s 1968 masterpiece. Either way, it’s interesting that the animated movie has such a hard “R” rating attached to it, suggesting it’s not quite for kids. Stay tuned for more as we learn it…
