After all the hype, the reviews (here’s ours, in case you missed it), and the nightmarish mods, just how has Capcom fared with Resident Evil Village? Quite well, actually.
According to Capcom’s figures, the eighth main entry in the franchise has shipped and digitally sold over 3 million units since its release on May 7. By comparison, Resident Evil VII shipped 2.5 million units in the same timeframe.
Village still has a ways to go before catching RE7‘s cumulative 8.5 million units. In fact, the Resident Evil 2 remake may catch up to RE7 before Village, as it currently sits at 7.9 million units sold. All in total, the Resident Evil series has surpassed 100 million units.
Resident Evil Village is currently available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Google Stadia.
