It’s rare when a sequel is as good, if not better than its predecessor, which is what makes The Conjuring films such a treasure. With the third in the flagship series just weeks away, Warner Bros. has shared a brand new featurette that reveals what makes The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It different from the first two films, outside of James Wan passing the directorial torch to Michael Chaves.
In the video, Wan and Chaves talk about removing the Warrens from the haunted house setting and placing them into a detective story, one that used David Fincher’s Se7en as a reference point.
“You have all of the scares and terror you’d expect from a Conjuring film, but it’s set against this incredible mystery that’s tied into what the Conjuring Universe is all about,” explains Chaves.
“We bust out,” exclaims Vera Farmiga, who returns as Lorraine Warren alongside Patrick Wilson as her husband, Ed.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is headed to both theaters and HBO Max on June 4, 2021.
We’ve also seen the first 11 minutes of the movie. Also, watch this first clip.
