“Vampire Academy” Books Now Being Turned into a Television Series by Peacock

Seven years after being turned into a feature film, we’ve learned via THR this afternoon that Richelle Mead‘s line of “Vampire Academy” books are now being turned into a TV series.

The six-book young adult vampire series was originally published between 2007 and 2010, with the first book adapted into the Vampire Academy feature film back in 2014.

THR reports that Julie Plec (“Vampire Diaries”) is behind the new adaptation for the small screen, with the project currently set up at the Peacock streaming service.

Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre will show-run, with ten episodes ordered up by Peacock.

“Set in a world of privilege and glamour, Vampire Academy follows two young women’s friendship that transcends their strikingly different classes as they prepare to complete their education and enter royal vampire society. This serialized and sexy drama combines the elegance of aristocratic romance and the supernatural thrills of the vampire genre.”
