After the acrimonious split between Konami and Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima back in 2015, Konami still had plans to use the Metal Gear Solid license after Kojima’s swansong with Metal Gear Solid V. What followed was the less-than-well-received Metal Gear Survive, which compared to what came before it, has effectively put the series in deep freeze.
Since everyone loves a “What happened?”, GVMERS has released a recounting of the game’s production and eventual response from fans and critics. Needless to say, if you’re a fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, you probably already know that Survive had next-to-no chance of being the closure that fans wanted.
We did get a happy ending of sorts with Kojima breaking away and creating Death Stranding, but until that Jordan Vogt-Roberts‘ Metal Gear Solid film adaptation with Oscar Isaac as Solid Snake gets off the ground, Survive is unfortunately the last Metal Gear Solid entry that fans have at the moment.
Metal Gear Survive is available on Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
