Announced last week, Paramount is bringing the Transformers back to life with a live-action Transformers: Beast Wars movie, now titled Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) is directing the film, and Collider breaks the news this week that Ron Perlman (Hellboy) has joined the cast. He’ll be voicing the character Optimus Primal!
Collider notes, “Optimus Primal is the fearless leader of the Maximals.”
Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback will star in the movie, set in 1994. We’ve also learned that the central character in Rise of the Beasts will be Optimus Prime G1.
Here’s the synopsis. “Returning to the action and spectacle that first captured moviegoers around the world 14 years ago with the original Transformers, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.”
The film arrives in theatres June 24, 2022.
