It’s crazy to think it’s been nearly 20 years since Uma Thurman‘s “The Bride” went on a murder spree, hunting down and getting revenge on several assassins, as well as their charismatic leader, Bill.
Quentin Tarantino‘s thrilling Kill Bill was so goddamn epic that it was split into two films volumes, with a third teased for the better part of the past two decades.
While Tarantino hasn’t offered up any real story details, he did reveal that he’s talked directly with Thurman about a reunion and that they have even “conquered the concept.”
We now have some insight into potential plans, which would revolve around Uma Thurman’s daughter, Maya Hawke, who has been landing key roles in major franchises from “Stranger Things” to this weekend’s Fear Street.
“I think it’s just revisiting the characters twenty years later and just imagining the Bride and her daughter, BB, having 20 years of peace, and then that peace is shattered,” Tarantino revealed on The Joe Rogan Experience.
“And now the Bride and BB are on the run and just the idea of being able to cast Uma [Thurman] and cast her daughter Maya [Hawke] in the thing would be fucking exciting.”
“Elle Driver [Daryl Hannah] is still out there, Sofie Fatale [Julie Dreyfus] got her arm cut off, but she’s still out there. They all got Bill’s money,” Tarantino adds, while also dropping this fun little bomb: “Actually, Gogo had a twin sister Shiaki and so her twin sister could show up.”
Of course, Gogo Yubari, a fan favorite, featured Battle Royale‘s badass Chiaki Kuriyama in the role.
The concept is exciting, further pushing the famous phrase “violence begets violence” by turning the tables back on The Bride/Beatrix Kiddo/Black Mamba.
Interestingly, Tarantino has already worked with Maya Hawke, casting the young actress as a Manson family member in his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Tarantino continues to tell press that he plans to direct one final movie before he retires. Could it be the long-promised conclusion to Kill Bill? And if so, how perfect would it be to see Hawke star alongside her mother?
