John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel became the incredible Swedish movie Let the Right One In back in 2008, which spawned the American remake Let Me In just a couple years later. The vampire tale is now headed to the small screen, as we recently learned that Showtime has ordered up a pilot episode of a potential series with Demián Bichir (The Nun) attached to star.
Madison Taylor Baez (Selena: The Series) has been cast to play the young vampire character at the center of the tale, but now we’re learning that a *second* vampire is in play here.
Variety reports that Kevin Carroll, Jacob Buster and Ian Foreman have joined the cast of Showtime’s pilot, and what you’ll find most interesting are the character details they reveal.
Variety details today, “Carroll will play Zeke Dawes, a successful restaurant owner who is friends with Mark and knows about Eleanor’s condition. Buster plays Peter, a sweet and funny boy who suffers from the same condition as Eleanor. When his father tests a potential cure on him, it backfires and releases a terrifying monster. Foreman will play quiet and sensitive Isaiah, who befriends Eleanor but has no idea the threat she poses.”
Previous iterations of the tale featured only one vampire child at the center of the story, so it’s interesting to note that the world will be expanded in the upcoming Showtime pilot. This time around, Eli’s not the only vampire who’s prowling for human blood…
“After she was bitten by a mysterious creature, Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez) and her father, Mark (Demián Bichir), were forced to live in the shadows and commit shameful acts to keep her alive. When she returns to New York City, Eleanor meets a friend who reignites her desire to regain her humanity, even as her condition brings out an animalistic power.”
Anika Noni Rose (“Power,” “Them”) and Grace Gummer (“Mr. Robot”) will also star.
Andrew Hinderaker (Away) is the showrunner, with Seith Mann (Homeland) directing.
The project hails from Tomorrow Studios, who have been trying to get a “Let the Right One In” series off the ground for the last several years now, previously set up at A&E and TNT.
