Fancy a game that uses throwback PS1-styled graphics that relies heavily on atmosphere and has you trapped in a mansion? No, it’s not Resident Evil, it’s Vertical Reach’s upcoming title The Tartarus Key.
Taking inspiration from classic horror games in its look and feel, the game bills itself as a psychological thriller where you play as a woman named Alex Young, who along with other captives, awakens to find themselves trapped in a dark mansion filled with traps, puzzles, and cameras following their every move.
Graphically, The Tartarus Key attempts to replicate the PS1-era polygonal graphics, right down to the infamous but endearing “wobble” that the PS1 was known for. The title will also have three different endings for you to discover, depending on if you choose to save Alex’s fellow captives, or leave them to their fate.
The Tartarus Key carries that wonderful “Coming Soon” release date, but is available for wishlisting on Steam right now.
