Today’s the day! Severin Films has just released the must-own, must-see, ultra-rare extended cut of Paul Donovan & Maura O’Connell’s Canadian shocker, Siege!
Inspired by the actual 42-day Halifax police strike, this ’80s thriller is shockingly still socially relevant: “When a local group of right-wing vigilantes massacres the patrons of a gay bar, the sole survivor seeks refuge in a nearby apartment building whose residents must now defend themselves in a night of hate, terror and bloodshed.”
Released in the U.S. as Self Defense, the new Blu-ray release was scanned in 2K from the original negative recently discovered in a Nova Scotia archive.
Bloody Disgusting is excited to share a piece from the extended cut of the film (93 mins), which was created specifically for the Japanese video market. It has never been seen again since the Japanese VHS, and never before in this kind of quality.
This scene catches up with one of the villains of the movie as he heads off to cause havoc. When told by his sister that he can’t leave the house, he rebels and takes out his frustrations on her pottery room…
