[Trailer] ‘Duke Nukem’ Creators Apogee Entertainment Announce ‘Dead Fury’ And ‘Below The Stone’

Apogee Entertainment are taking you back to the past with two new titles announced late last week. Funder Games’ Dead Fury and Strollart’s Below The Stone are described as “perfect representatives” of what Apogee Entertainment founder Scott Miller says is the goal of the company in the 2020s. Namely, to give players “that old-school feel” while also taking the medium forward.

Below The Stone is a pixel-based roguelike that sees players descend into procedurally-generated mines in order to hunt for treasure and mine for ore to obtain upgrades for their next run. And since it’s a roguelike, you can expect that all your earnings will be wiped out upon your death.

If you’re keen on something that’s a little closer to genre fare, then Dead Fury is for you. This fast-paced third-person shooter has you mowing down the undead as Jaxon, a soldier stationed in New Zealand. It seems that a mysterious infection that hitched a ride in a Mars rock specimen has caused the dead to live again. You’ll be employing traps as well as firepower in your quest to find a rare flower that can slow the spread of the infection.

Below The Stone is expected next year, while Dead Fury will arrive in 2023. Both titles are aiming for release on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
