I’ve been interested to see what angle XCOM developer Firaxis was going to take with its Marvel game, and I can’t think of many better outcomes than a horror-led strategy RPG featuring Ghost Rider, Blade, and Wolverine.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns was revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and sees player-created ‘dark heroes’ join forces with the aforementioned heroes and more including Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel in a fight against the Mother of Demons Lilith, and prevent the cataclysmic Darkhold from occurring.
Firaxis’ Jake Solomon stated the game would retain XCOM’s turn-based combat, but it would now be part of a fully-fledged RPG.
Midnight Suns is set to release in March 2022, with the first look at gameplay coming next week on September 1.
