Relive the Magic of Seeing Wes Craven’s ‘Scream’ in Theaters on October 11th!

“I’m feelin’ a little woozy here!”

One of the best theater experiences of my life was the surprise of Wes Craven’s slasher, Scream, which slayed audiences over Christmas break way back in 1996. It was such a great time that we ended up seeing it multiple times over the holidays, many of which resulted in heavy audience participation similar to that of Rocky Horror Picture Show. While the initial box office opening was soft, word of mouth turning Scream into the horror event of the decade.

Now, to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary, younger audiences who weren’t around for that special moment have a chance of their own to experience Wes Craven’s masterpiece in theaters.

While full details have yet to be announced, Fathom Events has dated Scream for a theatrical re-release on October 10, 2021.

In the 1996 horror classic, “A teenage girl becomes the target of a killer who has stalked and killed one of her classmates. A tabloid news reporter is determined to uncover the truth, insisting that the man who raped and killed Campbell’s mother one year earlier is the same man who is terrorizing her now. Campbell’s boyfriend becomes the prime suspect.”

David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, and Skeet Ulrich star in Wes Craven’s Scream, which was written by Kevin Williamson.

The event preludes the film’s 4K release (Oct. 19) and the subsequential sequel, also title Scream, in theaters on January 14, 2022.

Did you catch the first Scream in theaters way back in 1996? What are your memories?
