Sony Interactive Entertainment Files Trademark For ‘The Order: 1886’

Ready at Dawn’s The Order: 1886 looked pretty and had some great atmosphere, but ultimately suffered in the gameplay department for many. Despite this, fans have been asking for a follow-up to the 2015 monster-hunting title. And while Sony has been mum on if they’d be following through on it, it would appear that there’s something to give fans hope.

Per Gematsu on Twitter, Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed a trademark for the game in the US. The trademark was filed on December 9th for “downloadable video game software”. No other pertinent details are listed on the page.

As for what this could mean is open to interpretation. Ready at Dawn have said that they would like to continue the series, but would need Sony’s go-ahead. Of course, it could also just be Sony going through the motions and retaining the rights to the game under its umbrella.

Set in an alternate history of Victorian-Era London, The Order: 1886 follows the legendary Knights of the Round Table as they fight to maintain peace in the world from monsters such as werewolves and vampires.

The Order: 1886 is currently available on the PlayStation 4, as well as digitally via the PlayStation Store.
