Marvel’s ‘Morbius’ Gets a Mockbuster With The Asylum’s ‘Dracula: The Original Living Vampire’ [Trailer]

Billed as being “The classic tale… as you’ve never seen it,” The Asylum‘s upcoming horror movie Dracula: The Original Living Vampire is being marketed as the company’s “mockbuster” take on Sony’s upcoming Morbius, with the Marvel movie finally headed to theaters on April 1.

As for Dracula: The Original Living Vampire, it’s opening in select theaters on January 28, and Bloody Disgusting has been exclusively provided with the trailer and poster art this morning.

In director Maximilian Elfeldt‘s movie, written by Michael Varrati, “Detective Amelia Van Helsing is on the desperate hunt for the killer responsible for a string of grisly murders targeting young women. Matters only worsen when all evidence leads to the seemingly untouchable Count Dracula. And when Van Helsing’s girlfriend vanishes, she is forced to question the very existence of monsters in a final showdown with the enigmatic count.”

The cast for this one includes…

  • Michael Ironside as Dr. Jack Seward
  • Jake Herbert as Count Dracula
  • Christine Prouty as Amelia Van Helsing
  • India Davies as Mina Murray
  • Ryan Woodcock as Jonathan Harker

The film is playing in select theaters from January 28 – February 3, and from what we gather, it’s also being released for at-home streaming on the same day it comes to theaters.
