‘The Last of Us Part I’ Remake Goes Gold, Will Arrive on September 2nd

Developer Naughty Dog has announced that The Last of Us Part I remake, which was finally revealed last month, has now gone gold. The game is officially set to meet its announced September 2nd release date for the PlayStation 5, with a PC version coming at a later date.

Along with the announcement comes a “new” trailer that you can see below. The trailer is “new” in the sense that it’s a cut-down version of the one that was released last month, so there’s nothing more to see, if you were wondering.

Rebuilt from the ground up but “incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options”, The Last of Us Part I will also include the prequel chapter, Left Behind.

And in response to those who chided Naughty Dog for setting the price of The Last of Us Part I as they did, referring to it as a “cash grab”, ($70 USD for the Standard Version, $80 for the Deluxe Edition and $99 for the Firefly edition), one animator for the project, Robert Morrison, stated in a Tweet that the remake is the “most meticulously built and crafted project” they’ve ever worked on.

Meanwhile, there’s no word on the upcoming standalone multiplayer component that was also mentioned last month, though given that it’s expected next year, that’s understandable.
