‘My Best Friend’s Exorcism’ – Just Hanging Out With the First Image from Amazon’s Horror Film

Author Grady Hendrix released his second novel My Best Friend’s Exorcism back in 2016, which he describes as “Beaches meets The Exorcist.” Set in the late ’80s during the so-called Satanic Panic, it’s a touching story of high school friendship and, well, demonic possession. A movie adaptation is on the way, debuting on Amazon Prime Video on September 30, 2022.

Today, we have a first-look image at stars Elsie Fisher (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Eighth Grade) and Amiah Miller in the film directed by Damon Thomas (“Penny Dreadful”).

Check it out up above and expect more soon.

“The year is 1988. High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade. But after an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act…different. She’s moody. She’s irritable. And bizarre incidents keep happening whenever she’s nearby. Abby’s investigation leads her to some startling discoveries—and by the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, the fate of Abby and Gretchen will be determined by a single question: Is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?”

Cathy Ang and Rachel Ogechi Kanu also star.

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is one of the film’s producers. The script for My Best Friend’s Exorcism was written by Jenna Lamia, who is also an associate producer.
