Bloody Disgusting & Days of the Dead Announce Film Festival Partnership for Horror Shorts!

Bloody Disgusting is your #1 entertainment destination for horror – giving you the latest news, interviews, and reviews, covering movies, video games, comics, and music. We’re not just a hub for news, but entertainment with podcasts and films, including our new streaming service – SCREAMBOX!

We’re excited to announce this week that each upcoming Days of the Dead Film Festival will exclusively screen a specially curated block dedicated to Bloody Disgusting’s BLOODY BITES, which you can currently watch episodes on SCREAMBOX and Pluto TV On-Demand as well as Roku, Sling, and a number of other platforms.

Bloody Disgusting’s Tony Wash (filmmaker and BD TV Acquisitions / Programming) is partnering with Days of the Dead Film Festival’s George and Audery Lane (Directors & Programmers), looking to acquire horror themed shorts from the film festival to be included in future episodes of the show. “I’ve been attending DotD conventions as a filmmaker and patron for almost a decade and I am excited to see what George and Audery have done with the film festival so far! Knowing how important the convention circuit is for indie filmmakers such as myself, I could think of no better way to promote acquisitions for Bloody Bites than through a partnership with DotD’s film festival.”

DOTD will also present a special certificate award to our favorite BLOODY BITES short from each event during the awards ceremony.

“The importance of this partnership is to discover indie talents at a time when the film industry desperately needs fresh ideas,” said co-director and programmer George Lane, and adding, “Our goal is to introduce audiences to quality films that are rarely seen because they are shorts.”

“There are amazing short films across the globe which people miss out on unless they attend a film festival,” stated festival directors. “We are excited that this partnership will give filmmakers the best chance to have their hard work seen around the world and flattered that Bloody Disgusting appreciates the quality of films that come through our festival,” said co-director and programmer Audery Lane. “In less than one year and only two shows since I asked George and Audery’s team to revamp our film festival, they have far exceeded expectations by building it into a staple within the horror community and prominent horror film festival so quickly,” said Days of the Dead owner Bill Philputt.

Days of the Dead will have multiple conventions over the next year in Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Indianapolis and Los Angeles. “There is one city that we have not announced  and it is one we have not visited yet”, teased Bill Philputt. Days of the Dead convention, November 18 – 20, 2022 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel & Conference Center, continues to bring some of the largest names in horror and pop culture to their numerous events across the United States each year. Not just the nostalgia fuel that made us fans in the first place, but modern names also. Days of the Dead offers iconic film and television celebrity guests (new and old), music, sports, and pop culture. There are panels, a costume contest, tattoo expo, a comedy show, and live music, in addition to the film festival which offers workshops, filmmaker panels, and post screening Q&A’s.

The film festival award ceremony for the winter cycle will occur at the Atlanta event, January 27-29, 2023.
