Just in case you missed it, Ebb Software has finally released their horror first-person adventure title Scorn. After more than eight years of development, the game that melds the art styles of H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński is available for the Xbox Series and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG, as well as via Xbox Game Pass.
Of course, to celebrate the occasion (and to say that the you can buy it), we’re treated to the game’s launch trailer.
Scorn takes players to an isolated, strange, dream-like world set “in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry.” Left unguided to fend for themselves, players must explore Scorn’s interconnected bio-labyrinth, learning its rules and mastering grotesque puzzles along the way. Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. By uncovering secrets and gathering the strange bio-mechanical tools that seem to have been used by the civilization that previously called this world home, surviving might just be possible.
Your loadout in Scorn is defined and limited. You’ll will have to think about when to fight, when to take cover, and how your actions affect the world around you. Different playstyles will be needed in order to advance (and survive).
And if you’re interested in more eye candy (aka the game’s art), you can spring for the Deluxe Edition on Steam. This includes the official digital soundtrack composed by Aethek & Lustmord, as well as a 192-page digital artbook including a massive amount of exclusive artwork and research designs.
