After yesterday’s Resident Evil Showcase, there is no doubt that some fans who are wondering just what other Resident Evil titles Capcom is planning to revisit. In particular, some fans want to see Capcom remake Resident Evil – Code: Veronica for modern systems. And while that might not be in the cards, Capcom is at least aware of fan desires.
In an interview with Noisy Pixel, Resident Evil 4 remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi was asked about Capcom’s desire to remake other classic Resident Evil after Resident Evil 4‘s release next year. Specifically, would Hirabayahi turn his efforts to remaking Resident Evil – Code: Veronica.
Hirabayahi responded that while there are “no concrete plans” at the present time to develop a remake of the 2000 Dreamcast game, Hirabayahi did say that if the “opportunity comes, maybe.”
Obviously, it’s not the definitive answer that fans of Code: Veronica want to hear. But it does present a glimmer of hope that Capcom will turn back to the game that ended up selling over 3 million units combined across the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2.
In the meantime, fans can at least look forward to the fan-made remake of the game, which is currently still being worked on, and will be released for free once it’s complete.
The Resident Evil 4 remake arrives March 24, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
