Golden Globes: “Wednesday” Nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy

In addition to breaking records on Netflix, the just-released, Jenna Ortega-starring series “Wednesday” is now officially a Golden Globes nominee, we’ve learned this morning.

Announced this morning, “Wednesday” has been nominated in the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy category, alongside shows including “Only Murders in the Building.”

Here’s the full list of nominees in the category…

  • “Abbott Elementary”
  • “Only Murders in the Building”
  • “Hacks”
  • “The Bear”
  • “Wednesday”

Additionally, Jenna Ortega has been nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, alongside Quinta Brunson, Kaley Cuoco, Selena Gomez, and Jean Smart.

All this good news of course bodes well for “Wednesday” getting a second season, and we have to assume that Netflix won’t be waiting long to announce the renewal. Stay tuned.

The 2023 Golden Globes will air January 10 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock.

Jenna Ortega stars in the new series as Wednesday Addams, with Luis Guzmán playing Gomez and Catherine Zeta-Jones playing Morticia in Tim Burton’s Netflix series. Christina Ricci also appears in the show, playing a brand new role, with Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

“Wednesday” is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” The series follows…

“Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) are the writers and showrunners of Netflix’s “Wednesday,” with the first half of Season One’s episodes notably directed by Tim Burton.
