‘World War Z: Aftermath’ Arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series January 24, Includes New Horde Mode XL

Taking a bit of a break from Evil Dead: The Game, Saber Interactive has announced that World War Z: Aftermath will finally be heading to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series later this month on January 24. For previous-gen owners on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, you’ll be receiving a free upgrade to these new versions on your respective platforms.

In addition, the current-gen release will also mark the arrival of the new supersized Horde Mode XL, which is available exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The new Horde Mode XL follows the same rules as the Aftermath’s standard Horde Mode, albeit with a new twist — scattered among the normal waves of enemies will be a special XL wave that contains over 1,000 hungry zombies. This will obviously require you and your team to pull out all the stops to survive.

If that’s not enough, all World War Z: Aftermath and World War Z players on consoles and PC will also receive a free update on January 24 that introduces mutators into the standard Horde Mode Z game mode. On top of that, the update also includes new weapons and a revamped and improved weapon progression system.

And in case you’re wondering about our thoughts on the original version of World War Z, hit up Neil’s take.
