Co-op Psychological Horror Game ‘Phylakterion’ Launches Into Early Access Next Week [Trailer]

Developer Lich Again Games is getting in on the co-op psychological horror craze with their upcoming title, Phylakterion. The game will launch in Early Access on Steam on February 20th as part of the Steam Mystery Fest.

The premise for Phylakterion involves you and up to three other teammates entering one of five haunted locales to find a possessed item, exorcise the entity and destroy the item. Of course, it’s not that easy, as the entity will be out to prevent you from completing your task.

So what makes this game different from, say, Phasmophobia (which the developers say was the inspiration behind Phylakterion)? The focus is on finding the item, rather than the ghost. You’ll be making use of a variety of tools (such as a Geiger-counter, camera, or notebook) to locate the possessed item and find out what kind of entity is possessing it. The item can be pretty much anything around the location. Oh, and it also has the ability to move around to hide. Meanwhile, the entity will try to scare and kill you and your friends, so be on the lookout.

If you or your teammates die, those deceased players can still attempt to help those still among the living accomplish their task.
