‘The What!’ – First Look at the Practical Bug Monster in Upcoming Throwback Creature Feature [Exclusive]

A couple weeks back we told you about the upcoming creature feature The What!, and we also shared some exclusive concept art that gave you a sneak peek at the monster. After creating the effects for over 40 iconic films, Schaffer Studios is now crowd-funding the retro-style monster movie, and today Bloody Disgusting has been provided with another teaser.

This time around, the team has shared with us a first-look at the practical monster that’s been created for The What!, of course based on the concept art we recently shared.

Meet the film’s throwback monster in the video teaser below…

The project’s Kickstarter campaign has passed $45,000 with just a few days left to go, inching extremely close to its $50,000 goal. Head over to Kickstarter to learn more and pitch in!

Clark Schaffer and Aaron Keck have spent decades creating effects for their company Schaffer Studios, working on films including Iron Man 2, Speed, Daylight, and Black Adam, and The What! is specifically an homage to the giant monster movies of the 1950s that they’re hoping to film this coming summer. The film is said to be “told through the hardships, drama, and laughter of one farmer, his family, and their town,” channeling the retro vibes of a time gone by.
