‘Evil Dead Rise’ Scared Up a $40 Million Debut Weekend Worldwide

Director Lee Cronin brings the Evil Dead franchise back to life with brand new theatrical release Evil Dead Rise, the first film in the saga in ten years. Over the weekend, the new movie scared up an impressive $23.5 million at the domestic box office, but what about worldwide?

In its debut weekend, Evil Dead Rise passed $40 million worldwide! That’s $23.5 million made here in the United States, combined with a $16.8 million international debut weekend.

Evil Dead Rise had an estimated production budget of just $19 million, which should allow the film to become profitable at the box office in the coming weeks.

Back in 2013, Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead similarly opened to $25 million domestically, and that film ended up making $54 million domestically and $97 million worldwide.

Meagan Navarro writes in her Evil Dead Rise review for BD, “Evil Dead Rise is an absolute crowd pleaser that’s best enjoyed with a rowdy crowd of fellow fans.”

What did YOU think of Evil Dead Rise? If you saw the new movie in theaters over the weekend, comment below and let us know. We’d love to hear your thoughts, takes, and opinions.
