“Galaxy Quest” – Movie About a Fake TV Series Is Becoming a Real TV Series for Paramount+

Actors in a sci-fi television series became real-life heroes in the 1999 spoof Galaxy Quest, and THR reports today that Galaxy Quest is now becoming a real TV series at Paramount+.

THR reports, “Paramount+ is teaming with its studio counterpart, Paramount Television Studios, for a live-action adaptation of the 1999 cult favorite sci-fi spoof.

“Sources say the project is in the early development stages and a search is under way for a writer to pair with Mark Johnson, the Breaking Bad alum who exec produced the film and is returning for the scripted update,” the website’s report this afternoon continues.

Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman and Tony Shalhoub starred in 1999’s Galaxy Quest, which was directed by Dean Parisot. You can watch the original trailer below.

In the film, “The alumni cast of a space opera television series have to play their roles as the real thing when an alien race needs their help. However, they also have to defend both Earth and the alien race from a reptilian warlord.” No word yet on the TV show’s approach.

Stay tuned for more as we learn it.
