‘There’s Something in the Barn’ First Image – ‘Gremlins’ Meets ‘Christmas Vacation’ in Holiday Horror Movie

Fresh Christmas horror is on the way with the upcoming Norwegian holiday horror romp There’s Something in the Barn, which comes courtesy of director Magnus Martens.

Described as “Gremlins meets Home Alone meets National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,”  the film features Martin Starr (Intruders) and Amrita Acharia (Game of Thrones, The Serpent Queen), who previously starred together in zombie movie Dead Snow 2.

“It follows a typical American family who inherits a farm in the Norwegian mountains and crosses paths with a tricky creature from Nordic folklore, the Barn Elf.

“The family must avoid incurring the wrath of this gnome-like Santa by eschewing all bright lights and loud noises and making sure to leave a bowl of porridge on Christmas Eve.”

The film has been described as “an ambitious artistic bridge between American classics and Norwegian mythology,” as well as “one of those fun rides you rarely come across.”

Produced by Norway’s 74 Entertainment, with US-based XYZ Films executive producing and co-financing, There’s Something in the Barn began filming last October.

Stay tuned for more on this holiday horror film as we learn it.
