Three years after teasing Amid Evil fans, developer Indefatigable and New Blood Interactive have announced that the long-awaited expansion DLC for Amid Evil in The Black Labyrinth will be arriving next month on August 18th. The expansion will serve as a “full prequel” to the main game, and brings with it new levels, weapons and foes as you descend into the eponymous Black Labyrinth.
The premise of The Black Labyrinth is a simple affair: Defeat the keeper of the legendary “Axe of the Black Labyrinth”, which will allow anyone who retrieves the weapon to claim the title of ‘CHAMPION’. Before that, however, the trailer demonstrates some of the other epic weapons you’ll be wielding, including a pair of spiked gauntlets to punch the bloody crap out of everything (in a subtle hint to Amid Evil‘s inspiration in Heretic), and a scythe with the ability to magically freeze enemies in place before slicing them out of existence (?!).
If you’ve not played Amid Evil yet (and you should), the story concerns a mysterious and powerful “Evil Force” that has appeared and corrupted the sacred lands of the known realms. As “the Champion”, you must travel through an inter-dimensional gateway and cleanse the sacred lands from this evil.
Currently, you can snag Amid Evil on Steam. A port to the Nintendo Switch is still being planned.
