Naughty Dog apparently are going back to the well that is The Last of Us once again. This time, rumours are swirling regarding a remaster of The Last of Us Part II, which if you recall, came out just three years ago.
Spotted by Eurogamer, in an interview with Spanish outlet BLENDER, series composer Gustavo Santolalla let slip that a “new edition” of Part II was in the works. Santolalla said that in the “new editions”, you can make his character in the game play certain themes, though he followed that up with “I can’t tell you anything else.”. It wasn’t clear what he meant by “editions”, since in The Last of Us Part I, his banjo-playing character isn’t even in the game.
Things get even more interesting with a now-edited entry on LinkedIn from a developer at Naughty Dog. Users on ResetERA found that a Lead Outsource Artist at Naughty Dog had written that they had done work on something referred to as “The Last of Us 2: Remastered“.
These are obviously just rumours at this point, as the recent The Last of Us Day came and went with no real news from the developer. Furthermore, the multiplayer project for TLOU is still ongoing with no update as to when we’ll be seeing it. Not to mention Naughty Dog recently laid off several employees, which not only flies in the face of something being in development, but also doesn’t bode well for the multiplayer project.
We’ll just have to wait and see if more comes of this.
