‘Terminator Zero’ Will Lean Hard Into Horror

The new Terminator Netflix anime is set to have some serious horror vibes.

Terminator Zero showrunner Mattson Tomlin appeared Friday at the 2024 Anime Expo in Los Angeles to discuss the upcoming anime series which takes place in 1997 Japan. Tomlin told the crowd that this Terminator is more of a relentless killing machine much like Arnold’s, pulling the genre back into its horror origins, according to a report on Deadline.

The official synopsis according to Netflix reads “Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.”

The eight-episode series is slated to premiere on August 29th. Keep it locked to Horror News Network for more on Terminator Zero.
