A decade of dominance! On September 21st and 22nd, the nutmeg state’s only annual horror convention, CT HorrorFest, celebrated its tenth installment with a successful residency at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. Horror fans from around New England and the tri-state area flocked to the capital city to check out the largest layout yet, with more vendors, celebrities, cosplaying killers and scary sights to satisfy horror fans of all ages.
CT HorrorFest has grown by leaps in bounds since the inaugural event back in 2014, and the 2024 edition represents the best year yet. Attendees were treated to rows and rows of vendors offering everything from t-shirts and movie posters to horror-themed candles and original art. If you wanted a horror-themed tattoo, you were in luck at the on-site tattoo booth! Celebrity photo-ops were once again a big hit, with guests taking posed and professional pictures with their biggest fans. There was even an opportunity to pose as Jason Voorhees’ latest victim with Ken Kirzinger in full costume!
The guest list was star-studded this year at CT HorrorFest as well. Every year the folks at Horror News Network, the organizers of CT HorrorFest, try to have the horror icons well-represented. Tyler Mane (Michael Myers), Ken Kirzinger (Jason Voorhees) and Pinhead himself Doug Bradley (making his third appearance at the event!) continued the tradition. In addition there was a Lost Boys reunion with Jason Patric, Alex Winter and Billy Wirth, the incomparable Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog, Creepshow), a reunion of the original Blair Witch Project cast (Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams), a Starship Troopers reunion with Michael Ironside, Dina Meyer and Jake Busey, Robocop himself Peter Weller, and Kathy Najimy from Hocus Pocus.
And the hits just keep on coming for horror fans with Peter Cowper (My Bloody Valentine), Kevin VanHentenryck (Basket Case), Harvey Stephens (Damien from the original The Omen!), Alex Armbruster (Thanksgiving) and Bradley’s counterpart from Hellraiser Ashley Laurence rounding out the impressive roster.
The thousands in attendance were also treated to a full slate of panels over the two packed days at CT HorrorFest as well. Audience participation was encouraged during panels for the Lost Boys, Hellraiser, The Blair Witch Project and Connecticut natives Tyler Green and Loosey LaDuca. Both the child and adult costume contests wowed the capacity crowd with the creative and spine-tingling get-ups on display.
In as many ways that 2024 was a ground-breaking year for CT HorrorFest, 2025 promises to be even greater! For the first time, the event will be adding a second edition as CT HorrorFest will descend upon Stamford, CT at the Stamford Hilton on May 3rd and 4th. This is in addition to the triumphant return to the Connecticut Convention Center scheduled for September 20th and 21st of next year.
See you twice in ’25!
