Even on the hottest summer days, this is not the ice cream man you want to see.
Sony genre label Screen Gems has acquired film rights to Ice Cream Man, a horror anthology comic book that was written and created by W. Maxwell Prince, according to a report on The Hollywood Reporter.
Published by Image Comics, the Ice Cream Man is a semi-anthological ongoing horror comic series of loosely connected stories that all share the common link of a mysterious ice cream man named Rick.
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creators of the smash hit Wednesday series and writers of the new Beetlejuice movie, are on board to produce the adaptation via their Sony-based Millar Gough Ink.
It has been a long journey so far to the small screen for this title as we reported back in 2018 that Ice Cream Man was set up at a series at Universal Cable Productions and would be seen on Quibi. After Quibi shut down in December 2020 the fate of the series was unknown.
