Atmospheric Survival Horror Title ‘Evil Lurks Below’ Announced for Steam [Trailer]

Kraken Ink has a little atmospheric Survival Horror title on the way with Evil Lurks Below. Not to be confused with the 2023 film from Demián Rugna, the game is described as a short psychological horror experience from a first-person perspective, sporting lo-fi PSX-style graphics, and is currently available to wishlist on Steam.

Players in Evil Lurks Below step into the shoes of Harry Walters, a paranormal detective investigating the case of the missing Gilman family. Walters’ search leads him to the family’s now-deserted house in search of clues after hearing rumours of paranormal activity. What he uncovers are unsettling memories from the past and a hatch leading to a mysterious area beneath the house. Further investigation leads Harry closer to unravelling the haunting and tragic tale that connects the house and its former residents.

Clocking in at around two hours of gameplay, Evil Lurks Below aims to keep the tension high. Along with solving puzzles and navigating challenges to escape the terrors in the house, it’s all wrapped in the pixelated aesthetics of classic PSX graphics that add to the fear. Of course, seeing as this is a Survival Horror title, you’ll also have to contend with lurking threats by choosing to fight, hide, or run.
