Crowdfunding Campaign for Holiday Slasher ‘Fiendsgiving’ Teaches Backers How to Make a Movie

Actor, writer, director, and horror enthusiast Clarke Wolfe (Malum, Torn Hearts) and actor and producer Samm Levine (Inglorious Basterds) are joining forces on new holiday slasher Fiendsgiving. Today, the pair has launched a one-of-a-kind crowdfunding campaign for the slasher’s opening sequence, which comes with unique perks that teach you how to make a movie.

Fiendsgiving seeks to raise $55,000 to shoot the opening sequence starring Samm, who also executive produces, as “Xander, a tech bro on his way to a Thanksgiving meal with his mother,  estranged sister, and long term, long distance, low commitment, casual girlfriend Taylor. Unfortunately for Xander, he crosses paths with a masked assailant…and The Gobbler is born!”

The new slasher is inspired by movies like “You’re Next and The Strangers with the sense of humor and relationships of Bob Clark’s Black Christmas, Fiendsgiving sets the table for fear and family drama that all audiences can relate to whether they celebrate Thanksgiving or not.”

The crowdfunding campaign has officially launched, and it’s not the slasher that sets this campaign apart but its unique perks. Clarke and Levine want to arm backers with the tools to make movies of their own. Participants in the Fiendsgiving crowdfunding campaign will be able to join livestreams from production meetings, special effects tests, and from physical production on set, plus post sessions in the edit bay. The filmmakers will also release sample documents, including budget breakdowns and production checklists, giving contributors an unfiltered look at the highs and lows of independent filmmaking. Get an all-access look into the experience of indie filmmaking via livestream technology, direct chat between backers and filmmakers, and conducting interviews with industry professionals that sets backers up with the knowledge, tools and community to bring their own stories to life.

“It’s no secret to anyone that our industry is at an inflection point, and securing financing, even at a micro-budget level with filmmakers that have years of experience, feels incredibly challenging,” says writer/director Clarke Wolfe. “We see an opportunity with this campaign to provide access and information cinephiles don’t normally get while also making a holiday horror movie that genre audiences will love.”

Clarke and Levine bring their decades’ worth of combined experiences in the film and TV industry to tackle a new Thanksgiving-themed slasher that just so happens to come with a film school. The crowdfunding campaign for Fiendsgiving is now live.
