Hippo Horror Movie ‘Hungry’ Pits a Hungry Hungry Hippo Up Against a Group of Tourists

Seemingly inspired by the classic board game Hungry Hungry Hippos, the upcoming horror movie Hungry has been announced by Variety out of the American Film Market this morning.

Being described as a survival thriller, director James Nunn’s Hungry is being sold by Signature Entertainment at the ongoing American Film Market this week, Variety reports.

Hungry centers on a group of holidaymakers who must fight for their lives against a rampaging hippo on the loose after becoming lost in the Louisiana swamplands.”

James Nunn wrote the script and is also directing the film, now in production. Nunn was the director of the recent action movie One Shot, as well as shark attack movie Shark Bait.

Variety also notes in today’s exclusive report, “Key behind-the-scenes talent on the film includes award-winning MUFX designer Dan Martin (The Banshees of Inisherin, Possessor, Infinity Pool) and VFX company Magic Dust VFX (True Detective: Night Country, One Piece) who have both boarded the project to bring Hungry’s hippo to life.”

Stay tuned for more on Hungry as we learn it.
