Horror-Esoteric Adventure Game ’49 Keys’ Out Now on Steam, Switch [Trailer]

Developer Michele Buonanno has made good on his plan back in April, with his debut title 49 Keys now available on PC via Steam and the Nintendo Switch. As an added incentive, 49 Keys is enjoying a 10% launch discount on both platforms, as well as a demo on the Switch for those looking to check out the game before making a purchase.

Inspired by Buonanno’s award-winning 2022 gamebook, 49 Chiavi, 49 Keys is a narrative-focused game inspired by real magic books from the 16th century. The protagonist is a friar from the Dominican Order. One day, he receives a letter from his deceased master naming him heir to his mysterious legacy. Your journey will transport you to an unsettling palace filled with mysteries and macabre demons.

Drawing inspiration from point-and-click adventures, 49 Keys blends elements such as intricate puzzle solving, interaction with objects, and creating alchemical mixtures or summoning spirits based on the influence of the planets. Players will need not only to wield their intellect but also to test their mettle and remain calm in the game’s oppressive atmosphere. As the player approaches the end of the story, they’ll be presented with crucial choices that will change the story’s outcome.

To add to the bizarre and anxious atmosphere of the game, the UI, created by Veronica Wu, is inspired by medieval manuscripts, while Fabio Porfidia has drawn the illustrations.
