Psychological Liminal Horror Game ‘Dreamcore’ Releasing Time-Limited Demo Next Month [Trailer]

So you’ve polished off liminal horror game Backrooms: Partygoers, and you’re hungry for more. Indie developer Montraluz has your fix with Dreamcore, a surreal bodycam psychological horror game that’s currently in development for PC via Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox for release next year. However, you’ll be able to check out a time-limited demo next month for Dreamcore, as well as the newly-released trailer for the game.

Dreamcore is inspired by the enigmatic cottages from Level 94 of the Backrooms wiki, where a seemingly idyllic neighborhood takes on a disturbingly reality-breaking form as it twists, expands, and loops around in uncanny ways. Offering a “one-of-a-kind experience,” the game enables players to freely explore expansive, non-linear worlds for extended gameplay sessions. Each world features a distinctive puzzle, tasking players with discovering its secrets and finding the exit.

Developed in Unreal Engine 5, each of Dreamcore’s worlds offers a hazy, twisted memory of the 1980s, complete with the grainy aesthetic of found footage VHS tapes. It’s all wrapped up in the bodycam aesthetic, which aims to heighten the immersion of the game (as well as the unnerving atmosphere).

Want to wander this labyrinthine nightmare neighborhood yourself? Montraluz will be releasing a demo for Dreamcore to Steam on December 10th, which will be available until December 31st.
