Written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, Godzilla Minus One starred Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando, and Kuranosuke Sasaki. The film earned $115.8 million at the box office against a budget of only $15 million.
The film would go on to rack up numerous accolades, including a leading 12 nominations at the 47th Japan Academy Film Prize (winning eight) and winning Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards. Another Yamazaki-helmed Godzilla film has been greenlit, but it is currently unknown whether it will be a sequel to Godzilla Minus One or a standalone film.
