‘Insidious 6’ No Longer Releasing in 2025

The horror genre’s 2025 release slate is already being shaken up, with the sixth installment in the long-running Insidious film franchise no longer returning to theaters this year.

Originally planned for release from Sony on August 29, 2025, the untitled Insidious 6 will no longer be meeting that date. In fact, Insidious 6 won’t be released until 2026.

Insidious 6 will now take you back into The Further on August 21, 2026.

In addition to the upcoming sixth installment in the mainline series, the franchise will also be expanded upon with spinoff Thread: An Insidious Tale, which doesn’t yet have a release date.

Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani will star in Thread: An Insidious Tale.

At this time, nothing is known about Insidious 6. Stay tuned for more.

Director James Wan’s original Insidious movie in 2011 was followed by Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015), Insidious: The Last Key (2018), and last year’s Insidious: The Red Door, which became the highest grossing movie in the entire franchise thus far.

Another franchise returning with a brand new sixth installment in 2026 is the Scary Movie spoof saga, with Scary Movie 6 just announced for theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
