The sequel to Netflix and director Roar Uthaug’s (The Wave, Tomb Raider) 2022 Norwegian monster movie, Troll 2, is set to arrive this year. Today, Netflix has unveiled a new Troll 2 clip that reintroduces the human protagonists as they gear up to battle another giant mythical beast.
Watch the new clip below and get ready for another round of kaiju-sized action later this year.
In Troll 2, “When a powerful new troll is awakened, chaos spreads across Norway, thrusting Nora (Ine Marie Wilmann), Andreas (Kim Falck), and Captain Kris (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen) into their most dangerous mission yet. To stop the creature’s rampage, they must make new allies, new weapons, and dive into ancient Norwegian history for answers. Can they overcome the impossible odds to save their country from the brink of darkness?”
The sequel also features Troll writer Espen Aukan, as well as producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud from Motion Blur.
Horn and Sinkerud told Netflix, “We are thrilled to bring Troll 2 to life, again spinning on a Norwegian fairy-tale figure played, directed, and produced by Norwegians.”
In Troll, “When an ancient troll is awakened in a Norwegian mountain, a rag-tag group of heroes must come together to try and stop it from wreaking deadly havoc.”
I wrote in my review of the first film, “What Troll lacks in originality, it makes up for in fresh mythology. The leads are pleasant enough to get the job done, even if there’s not much to these characters. It’s well crafted and efficient in pacing, only briefly touching on requisite environmental concepts. It’s fun enough and does deliver on spectacle, but most of all, it leaves you rooting for its magnificent creature.”
