Watch Demi Moore’s Golden Globes Acceptance Speech for ‘The Substance’ Win

A huge win for the horror genre at large, Demi Moore took home a much-deserved honor at the Golden Globes over the weekend, winning a statue for her performance as Elisabeth Sparkle in one of last year’s best horror movies, Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance.

A masterpiece of body horror, The Substance was up for five different awards at the Golden Globes last night, and Demi Moore took home the trophy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, while last year’s film was also nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy as well as Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Moore’s co-star Margaret Qualley was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category, and Moore made sure to thank her de-aged other half in her Globes acceptance speech.

“I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance,” Moore recalls. “I am so grateful to Coralie for trusting me to step in and play this woman. And for Margaret [Qualley], for being the other half of me.”

You can watch Demi Moore’s full Golden Globes acceptance speech below, wherein the actress speaks about The Substance‘s game-changing impact on her life, career, and self worth.

“Today, I celebrate this as a marker of my wholeness,” Moore says, “and of the love that is driving me and for the gift of doing something I love. And being reminded that I do belong.”

The Substance is streaming exclusively on distributor MUBI’s own streaming service, but you can also rent or buy the film Digitally on outlets including Amazon and Fandango at Home.

Demi Moore stars as a fading celebrity who injects herself with a cell-replicating substance that literally makes her give birth to a younger version of herself (Margaret Qualley).
