‘Eden Lake’ Actor Jack O’Connell Joins ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel

Jack O’Connell (Eden Lake, 300: Rise of an Empire) has closed a deal to appear in the next installment in Legendary’s MonsterVerse franchise, Deadline reports.

He joins the previously announced Kaitlyn Dever (No One Will Save You) and Dan Stevens, who will reprise his role as kaiju expert  Trapper from last year’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

The followup to Godzilla x Kong — the highest grossing Godzilla film of all time — will feature several new human characters alongside the iconic Titans as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.

Insiders say that while Godzilla and Kong will still be fronting the film, Legendary is looking to build on its human characters. Director Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) is aiming to combine character-driven storytelling with the franchise’s signature epic scale and action.

Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), who helped establish the MonsterVerse with a story credit on 2014’s Godzilla, penned the script.

O’Connell has a big year ahead, with roles in Ryan Coogler‘s vampire movie Sinners, out April 18, and Danny Boyle‘s long-awaited 28 Years Later, releasing on June 20.
