‘Dark Mass’ Immerses You in Underwater Psychological Horror Next Year [Trailer]

Insomnis developer Path Games is back at it with haunted houses in Dark Mass. Only this time, the haunted house in question lies in the eerie silence of the deep ocean. Currently, Dark Mass is in development for PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, with a release target in fall 2026.

Touting itself as the first horror game set entirely underwater, Dark Mass sees players take on the role of Alice, a deep-sea explorer who, alongside her brother Reed, stumbles upon the wreckage of an ancient ship. But beneath the ship lies they discover a manor lost to time, eerily untouched despite spending centuries in the ocean.

Alice decides to venture inside, but she soon realises that something is watching from the darkness, bound to the manor by a dark curse. Trapped within the manor’s decaying halls, Alice must now uncover the manor’s tragic past, solve puzzles based on real historical torture rituals, and make decisions that will ultimately define her fate.

Seeing as you’re underwater, the developers aim to have the vertical exploration and environmental physics add new layers of tension in Dark Mass. Despite being alone in the manor, Alice will still be communicating with her brother Reed through a fully Spanish-voiced walkie-talkie system.
