Pixel-Based Survival Horror RPG ‘Look Outside’ Now Available on Steam [Trailer]

Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Francis Coulombe have surprised Survival Horror fans with a new pixel art RPG with Look Outside. Available now on Steam, Look Outside began its origins as a game jam project (which you can find on itch.io as a demo).

Set in a single apartment building, Look Outside centres around a mysterious event where anyone who looks out their window is turned into grotesque monsters. Obviously, this leaves the world in absolute chaos. As a result, you must scavenge your apartment building to seek food, supplies, and weapons while encountering strange characters—human and otherwise.

In order to get your supplies, you must plan accordingly, while also being prepared to fend off grotesque monsters dwelling in and around your building. Return to your apartment with your supplies and partial answers to your questions. You can to recuperate by playing games, making dinner, crafting tools, and getting to know your neighbors turned allies.

And speaking of monsters, you’ll be facing over 150 creatures with “impeccable body horror aesthetic” in turn-based combat as you wield makeshift weapons and items you’ve gathered in the corridors of your apartment building. You won’t be going at it alone, however. Amongst the psychotic cast of characters, you can recruit some of them as allies, offering up your apartment as the mystery unravels around you.
